Society of Edmonton Demographers
The Society of Edmonton Demographers (SED) was established in 1990 to promote the study of demography and population in the province of Alberta. In 2015, the SED will celebrate their 25 year.
The Society, in conjunction with the University of Alberta Department of Sociology & Faculty of Graduate Research, has set up an endowment for population research, the Alberta Endowment Fund for Demographic Research (AEFuDeR), that provides scholarships to graduate students at the Masters and PhD levels. In addition to the educational scholarships for population research, SED members contribute substantially to promote population research through organization and sponsorship of the annual Warren E. Kalbach Population Conference and the Distinguished Demography Lecture Series, held at public venues at the University of Alberta.
